Jesse was just passing trough Morrison's territory when he sees Tracer being chased down by a group of wild buffalos. She tried to make a hunt bigger than she could handle alone and the herd attacked her back. She try to jump from one cliff to another but slip and almost fall down, luckily Jesse has seen the whole scene and before she loses the grip he goes in her rescue and save her. Tracer, incredibly happy and joyful, thank him a lot and invite him to meet her Clan.
When Tracer brings Jesse to the clan, telling how she was saved, Morrison is extremely thankful and invite him to rest at their camp. Hanzo is not really happy about it. He doesn't really like strangers and has a bad feeling about him. Which is actually true, because Jesse's intentions quickly become "I'm gonna stay here as long as you trust me enough, and then I'll steal as much as your goods as I can and leave. He put on a smile and behave in the most friendly way to gain the clan trust, telling them that he's a stray, looking for a place to settle down. He joins the clan in a kind of "trial time". Tracer is really happy to have him in the Clan and is constantly buzzing around him and playing with him; Jesse always agrees to keep her entertained. Morrison is really caring and appreciate his participation a lot in every daily task, BUT he's the only one that has seen the deadlock mark branded on Jesse's arm so he knows he might mean trouble. He also thinks that he might be infatuated with Tracer (BOI HE'S WRONG) and so ask Hanzo to share the bed with him (BOI HE'S WRONG TWICE) and Hanzo's agree even if he doesn't like the idea. [Morrison's bed is smaller, Tracer and Hanzo have bigger bunk beds, so Jesse could fit with one of them or sleep on the ground (as Hanzo suggested)] Jesse also finds Hanzo really attractive and try to flirt with him a couple of times but get put in his place with such coldness that immediately gets the message and understands that it's a bad decision to continue to hit on him. He still didn't know that Hanzo is actually an omega, and think that he's an alpha. Hanzo looks more like an alpha due to his intense training in young age and he took the habit of smiling rarely so that his teeth are always covered. Hanzo keeps Jesse under strict control and follows his every step, still not trusting him. Jesse, on the other hand, doesn't give him any reason to doubt of him and help by hunting. To impress Hanzo, he tries to catch a prey that's too big for him and gets injured on an arm. Morrison and Tracer store the prey while Hanzo takes some stuff to heal Jesse's arm... and that's when things start to go wrong. When he raised his sleeve Hanzo finally notice the Deadlock mark branded in Jesse's arm and immediately think that he's a traitor or a spy, sent there to gather info before the whole Deadlock Pack attack them. He will not let him this chance. Hanzo attacks Jesse as he tries to explain himself, and it's only thanks to Morrison's arrival that Hanzo doesn't kill him. Morrison reveals that he always knew that Jesse was in the Deadlock and Jesse tells them that he's not part of it anymore. Morrison convinces Hanzo by telling him that a man can't be judged by the errors of his past (both have done things that they're not proud of) even if Hanzo doesn't believe Jesse, he trusts Morrison and let him go. Jesse was not expecting such warming comprehension and have to remind himself that he need to betray them quickly before he gets affectionate. We wrote down this part here -> https://archiveofourown.org/works/13451313(in italian, sorry!)
Morrison accompanies Jesse to the waterhole flock to check if his arm is alright. While Jack talks with Mercy (they were in the Overwatch Clan previously and Morrison is really proud of what she have done with the Waterhole territory) Jesse meets with Sparrow and tells him how things are going. Sparrow knows about Jesse's habit of betraying other clans but he's not one to get into others business. Angela, on the other hand, sees Jesse and know his reputation. She warns Jack telling him that Jesse has come to the waterhole flock in seek of help many times and that he always travel alone. Instead of negative, Jack take the news in a positive way: he has the confirmation that Jesse is not lying and he's not with the Deadlock Pack anymore. He decides at that moment that Jesse could join them. [Note that Genji is known as Sparrow by everybody at the Waterhole Flock and nobody knows his real name there. Hanzo has never been at the Waterhole Flock and rarely leaves Morrison's territory in general] Angela also tells him that there are rumors that the Talon Clan have a new leader. When Jesse and Jack come back, telling the news, Lena is really excited and want to see the changes in Talon Clan. Morrison, having a bad history with them, tell her that they'll go all together in the future, but not now. Comics about this part: The first part of "Bro"
To complicate this even more for Jesse, Hanzo surprises him and actually say that he's sorry for what he has done. That he shouldn't have judged him nor attacked him. He explained that in his past he too have done things that he's not proud of and tells him only a couple of part of his history. Jesse is just so unbelievably overwhelmed by the niceness of these people and the trust that they're giving him that he's not sure he can betray them anymore. When Jack offers him to actually join their Clan, Jesse agrees spontaneously but immediately regret it. He feels so bad. He tries to run away without stealing anything, but get caught before he can leave the yurta, and he makes it pass for a night walk. The moment never feels right to run away, he still has stuff to do and people that rely on him, things that never happened before and makes him feel warm and welcomed. Tracer also whispers him the secret hot spring spot where Hanzo goes alone. Tracer always accompanies him (not invited) and Jesse joins too. Tracer starts to talk about Winston, his friend that improved the eyes of people, and before Jesse could reply that that's not possible, Hanzo shut him up. Hanzo and Morrison are firmly convinced that Winston is Tracer's imaginary friend and they let her live in her dream. At this point things start to get more relaxed in the group and even if Hanzo is grumpy as always, he starts to appreciate more the company of Jesse. Comics about this part: Grooming / Not invited
Jesse sleep so close to Hanzo and he notices that something is strange. Hanzo has a slightly different smell and is super pissed and angry at everything, and even more angry than usual at Jesse. It doesn't take much time to Jesse to understand that he's going in heat and Hanzo doesn't like it at all. At this point of the story, while Jesse is playing with Tracer, she tells him that she's so happy to finally have another alpha to play with. Jesse doesn't understand because he was 100% sure that Hanzo was alpha, but Tracer reveals that he's actually an omega and immediately regret it and tell him to keep it secret because Hanzo doesn't like people to know. Jesse is too curious and chatty to be able to do that and he proceeds to ask Hanzo because he doesn’t believe her. Hanzo is internally screaming at the question, panicking so bad, but he turns around, looks Jesse straight in the eyes and say “Yes, I’m an omega. You have problems with that?” … and Jesse just shrugs and say “Nah, it’s cool. It’s just that you looked like an alpha. I heard that the one like you are incredibly smart!“ and that’s all. Hanzo is so freaking confused because for him is the biggest deal but for McCree is not, he couldn’t care less hahaha In rage Hanzo also tells him other bits of his past, that he always trained to change his appearance and was never enough for his Clan. Jesse replies that once and omega named Symmetra defeated him in a fight faster than any other alpha did and that the Shimada council was stupid as heck. Not only this: Jesse pretends that he doesn't notice that Hanzo is in heat and completely ignore him. From an alpha and ex.Deadlock Hanzo was expecting him to be hot-headed and pushy, but instead, he reveals to be just this chill dude who enjoys his company. (McCree is McSweating a lot, to be honest, but he figured that Hanzo doesn’t really like to be hit on). Hanzo realizes that he had misjudged him a lot and start to appreciate him. Still, Hanzo leaves the Clan for the days of his heat and goes camping near the hot springs because he's super pissed at himself and doesn't like to show his weakness at all.
Time pass and everything set back to normal. Hanzo appreciates the company of Jesse much more. Jesse is starting to realize that he's having a crush for Hanzo but he's trying to push it back because Hanzo already made it clear that he doesn't appreciate his attention. Tracer insists that they should go to see the changes in the Talon Clan but Morrison always find something more important to do. He's actually running away from his past and the memories of Gabe, when they were still together in the Overwatch Clan and Gabe was by his side before he killed him. Big bear Roadhog shows up telling them he wants to trade fish-hooks (he get the bones and clean them, Junkrat actually invented fish-hooks ) for a blanket (Morrison's Clan weaves, Jack has learned to do that from Reinhardt and teach it to Hanzo and Tracer. Tracer suck at it and Hanzo first tries were disastrous). Roadhog also leaves them some medical herbs that are difficult to find. Jack decided to bring the herbs to the waterhole flock as a gift for all their work and Jesse volunteer for the job. They trust him, so they give him some supply and the herbs. Jesse arrives safe and sound and gives the herbs to Mercy. While he traveled he had time to clear up his thoughts and realize that he has become really close to Morrison Clan. He's trusting them, a thing that he thought he was not capable of doing any more, and he's really glad that he could find his space with them. He also figures out that his crush for Hanzo is becoming more and more like love and has no idea how to handle it or tell him. He feels like Hanzo is getting closer to him but also see that every time that they seem to get closer, Hanzo push him away in some way. Jesse visits Sparrow and confesses to him his feeling for Hanzo. He never says his name tho, not that he omit it intentionally, but he never does. Sparrow doesn't really believe that he's in love as he knows that Jesse is not the type. They shared one night of love when Sparrow was still in his rage intensified phase and there were no sentiments with them. Jesse has told him so many stories of the hearts that he has broken since then, hopping from one clan to the others and taking advantage of every situation, that he doesn't really think that this will be any different.
Comics of this: "Bro", second part
Jesse returns to Morrison's Clan firmly convinced that he'll not tell anything to Hanzo and it will leave his love to get colder and colder until he can accept that they'll be just friends. And then BAM, he goes in heat. It starts to get reeeally difficult to hide his crush. He tries, he really tries, but when they're alone near the fire his wolf instinct kicks in and he starts to serenade Hanzo. Hanzo is not even looking at him but enjoys the music. Raising his head he compliments Jesse's voice just a second before realizing that the song was FOR him. He gets super flustered and doesn't dare to say another word. In the next 4 days is so super obvious that Jesse is in love with him, he tries to sing so many times that Hanzo starts to shush him up in panic. Tracer often joins the serenade of Jesse and Hanzo want to kill them both. He gets flowers, dead rabbits, songs and all the attention in the world. During those days Tracer mockingly calls Hanzo "darlin'" all the time, like Jesse started to do. Hanzo is secretly appreciating so much all the attention but still doesn't think he deserves them. Of course, after the intense week of serenading, Morrison has understood that Hanzo and Jesse like each other but still see that Hanzo struggle to accept the nice things in life. Even if he's happy for this silly situation he can't stop thinking about his previous life with Gabe and need a moment alone to chase away the sadness, so that night he leaves for a walk. NSFW///// Jesse and Hanzo still sleep in the same bed, and sleeping is difficult for them. Tracer has been asleep for hours and snore. Jesse has his nose in Hanzo's hair when he shifts uncomfortably a little bit far away from him to hide the fact that he's getting excited. But Hanzo turns in his direction and grip his elbow, stopping him. The two doesn't say anything, but when Jesse moves a little bit more near him Hanzo pulls him a bit over himself. Jesse complete loses it. He starts to grind over Hanzo even if they're both fully clothed, and Hanzo allows him to do that. After coming, Jesse lay down near Hanzo and become super embarrassed about his action, he even says that he's sorry. Hanzo just tells him to sleep, heart bumping like crazy, and fear how much he enjoyed it. END OF NSFW///// Jack, all caught in his thoughts, end up walking near the Talon Clan borders. He thought he saw a figure far away, but in a blink of eyes what he thought was Gabe already disappeared. He comes back more haunted by his past than when he left...
The day after Tracer was supposed to go hunting with Hanzo in the morning, but she sees him sleeping on Jesse's arm and decide to leave them there. For a moment she thinks about waking up Jack, be he seems really tired, so she leaves alone. The curiosity has the best on her quickly and she decided to goes hunting reeealy near the Talon's Clan border, just to take a peek. Her prey flees into Talon's territory and she chases it, a couple of seconds later Widowmaker pounce on her growling. She's kind of sexy when she does that. Tracer has the worst awkward laugh in dangerous situations and says too loud "Oh you must be the new neighbor HeLLoooOO!" that for some reasons works magic, as Widow's leave her. She's fierce, sly and cunning, but all that Tracer register is very very beautiful. Widow walk with her in the Talon territory, chatting. All she's doing is gathering up information from Tracer but she doesn't notice (How many of you there are? You stay nearby? Who is in your Clan? and so on), she's just really excited to have found such a nice company. Hanzo gets woke up by Morrison, who's panicking. He asks where is Tracer but Hanzo clearly overslept, Jesse wake up too. Jack is anxious about the shadow he saw last night and scold Hanzo too loud that he wanted to do. Jesse actually step up and take Hanzo's defenses, he pushed back Jack but he snaps and immediately pins him down in his lion form, putting him in line again and leaving to find Tracer. Hanzo tries to follow him but Jesse blocks him, but Hanzo get angry at him too. He tells him that he doesn't need to be defended and that Morrison was right and it was his duty to be there with Tracer. Both Jack and Hanzo leave Jesse behind and he feels bad as heck, like all he achieved with Hanzo and the Clan was lost again. They meet Junkrat and he tells them that she had seen her, then proceeds to guide them just to forget half-way there what he was doing and run away in panic, thinking that Morrison's Clan was chasing him. Morri and co. goes back to the camp, defeated. Tracer arrives at the camp a little later, happy and with a lot of news to tell, just to find that everybody was worried sick. After some more scolding, she confesses that -it wasn't her fault- but her prey run into the Talon territory -and she didn't notice, she swear!- so she meet them. They are a panther named Widowmaker, and she also sees a lion. While she describes it, Morrison can't breathe. It looks like the shadow that he saw... he looks like Gabe. But that can't be: Gabriel is dead, he has killed him. Trembling, he says that the time has come to properly meet them.
Tracer guide backs Jack where she met with Widow and they find her again. They walk together and chat, and Morrison is definitely less trusting than Lena was. He can sense that each move that they make is being watched and feel the raw power of the panther beside him. When Jack asked her how she got elected as leader Widow's chuckle and reply that she has annihilated everybody that opposed. Danger, big danger. Jack has seen enough and there is no trace of the ghost of Gabe. He leaves with Tracer while Widow salute them smiling with a goodbye that looks like a threat: "We'll see each other soon" After they left, Gabe emerges at her side, and Sombra prowls in the tall grass and starts to follow them. (Every day Widow and Sombra have to listen to Gabe complaining about Jack's new supposed mate and they're like this )
The day after, Jack said that they need to go to the waterhole flock to warn them from the new Talon leader. He still cares a lot for Mercy and doesn't wanna risk her being attacked, as he knows that the Waterhole territory has always been one of the most wanted. When Hanzo say that he'll stay and guard the camp, Jack reply that this time they'll all go. The ghost of Gabe and the meeting with Widow left him really worried and he doesn't want to risk losing anyone of his Clan, he prefers to lose his house and goods. Last time he has lost Gabe because they tried too hard to defend their territory and he doesn't wanna do the same mistake again, he values their life more than the things that they have; this he doesn't explain it. Hesitant, Hanzo agrees. The whole Morrison Clan move to the Waterhole Flock and it's nice to travel together. They cooperate setting camp every night and Jesse manage to cheer up everyone by getting them all to sing with him near the fire. Hanzo seems grateful for that, as he's worrying a lot about how much Jack is worried. He's not sharing his personal doubts with the rest of the Clan but all of them can clearly see that he's not ok. When they arrive at the Waterhole Flock Jack ask of Mercy, and Jesse tells Hanzo that he absolutely has to meet his best friend, Sparrow. Hanzo even dare to smile to Jesse enthusiasm, he sees Jesse waving at someone behind his back, calling Sparrow, he turns and his world crumbles. Sparrow is not unknown, it looks exactly like his brother Genji. The last time that the two brothers saw each other was on the battlefield when they were at each other’s throats. Now Genji is there again, alive but covered in scars. The guilt, the sorrow, the sadness that Hanzo have kept inside for all those years flood him. He realizes that their fight is not over yet, that Genji has all the rights to claim his vengeance and kill him, so he embraces his mistakes and surrender, asking for death. Genji spring at him like a freaking rocket while Hanzo is on his knees and bomb him with a tackle hug that Hanzo was definitely not expecting. Just seeing Genji alive and in peace with himself help Hanzo deeply on the road of his self-forgiveness and acceptance. He was convinced that he was not allowed to have nice things in his life because of the bad actions that he committed, but now that he sees Genji safe and happy he's finally able to appreciate the good in life. Comics about this part: "Bro" last part.
After warning Mercy and meeting Genji, Morrison's Clan has to get back to their territory. They don't know if Widow was a real treat but they cannot stay on Mercy shoulder forever. Coming home, they find everything as they left it and realize that nobody went to their camp even if they stayed away for days. They feel safer now, like if warning the waterhole flock was enough to put everybody at peace. Some days pass and everything goes normally. They hunt, they weave, Tracer manages to use some of Roadhog's fish-hooks in the right way and tell everybody more stories of how Winston invented even more incredible things. Morrison relax and try to remember only nice memories of Gabe. Hanzo gets finally closer to Jesse and accepts his presence beside him. I know you all want to know this so yes, they have sex at the hot springs (after 50 chapters, finally!!) Another day the two finally kiss openly while they're on a hunt and Tracer see them and proceed to mock them forever. Hanzo shut her up in a playful and embarrassed way and everything seems finally perfect. Until the night comes.
The night of the attack, Widow, Sombra, and Gabe strike Morrison’s Clan at the same time, but in different locations. Morrison had a night terror and woke up, sweating. He gets up and goes for a walk to calm his nerves, but it doesn't seem to work. He's tense and all caught up in his thoughts when he sees him. Gabriel is in front of him, his face painted like a ghost. Jack is speechless, he can’t think of anything. For so many years he thought that he had killed Gabriel and lived with that remorse. He learned how to cope with that and to go on but Gabe is back and he can't even tell if it's real or it's he's just imagining it. Is too much, really. He doesn’t know how to handle the situation. Gabe gets out of the shadow with the cockiest grin and he seems more alive than ever when he says just one thing: “Missed me?” He says it like it’s a joke, but Jack's heart crack and melt and he would just want to say HOW MUCH he missed him… but the moment is already gone, Gabe attacks him, the time for reconciliation is passed. Jack is so shocked that he can barely react. In the meantime, Widow shows up at the camp and engage battle with Hanzo and McCree. Jesse is in disadvantage because he doesn't see as well as the others in the darkness and he doesn't recognize Widowmaker. She's beating the shit out of them and Sombra was being an annoying little shit by sabotaging the fight in Widow’s advantage, popping out at the worst time and getting all their weak points. Until Tracer just runs at full speed against Widow with a powerful butthead and scream without fear “See if you can catch me, luv!” First thought of Widow: Who’s this joke of an alpha? I’m gonna freaking destroy her I just need to catch her first. Second thought: BOI SHE RUN FAST ……That’s kinda sexy Tracer fully catches her attention because there’s nothing more appealing to an alpha+ than a challenge, so she runs after her. Sombra, being outnumbered by Jesse and Hanzo, flee. In the meantime, Jack ends up pretty injured and Gabe doesn’t kill him just because he tells him that he will kill all the others members of his “new clan” in front of his eyes before finishing him. Then the talon retreat, mostly because Tracer has have separated Widow from the rest of the group in their chase. At this point, Gabe is in full jealousy/vengeance mode and Jack truly has no idea what to do, but he knows for sure that he’ll protect his new clan to his very last breath… even if that means that he’ll have to side against Gabe! Tracer gotta go fast, Widow's almost caught her but Tracer manages to escape at the very last second by changing direction. They're in front of the canyon where Jesse saved Tracer at the very beginning. Widow loses grip, struggle, and fall. Tracer, panting like crazy, try to see her in the dark but decide to not wait and see if she'll come back to kill her. She heads back to the camp, tired but victorious.
Morrison is in a bad shape, but refuse to go to the Waterhole Flock. After what Gabe has told him he knows that the Talon Clan is looking for him and doesn't wanna put anyone else in danger. Again, he doesn't tell anybody this. Jesse goes to trade some more herbs with the Junkers Duo while Hanzo takes care of Jack's wounds as much as he can. It starts to rain and doesn't seem like it wanna stop anytime soon, the Talon Clan doesn't strike again even if they were on guard against them. Tracer starts to wonder if Widow survived and she feels kind of guilty, she didn't wanna kill anybody. Going out with the excuse to gather up some herbs, she goes back to where they fought and sees that Widow is at the bottom of the canyon, trapped and unconscious, while the water is filling up fast. She has a case of lesbian panic and rushes to save her. She brings Widow to a safe place like a cave and sees that she's wounded. She leaves her some of the herbs that she gathered. Widow woke up and instinctively try to attack her, but she’s definitely too weak to fight and Lena is so fast she’s already fled to the other side of the world, rushing back to her clan... still really unsure if what she has done is right or wrong.
Morrison doesn't get better, and he gets the fever. Jesse, Tracer, and Hanzo all agree to bring him to the Waterhole Flock, no matter if he wants it or not. They all leave together and this time the travel is tense and all under the rain, definitely a different mood. Tracer sometimes looks back and wonder if Widow is ok and if she's back at their throats. At the Waterhole Flock, they leave Jack in the hand of Angela. Together they decide to goes back and defend the territory until Jack will be better. They don't know that Jack was the target and that he actually wanted to leave everything behind to not expose them to more danger. To Hanzo and the others, it seemed more logical to fight for what they all created together and defend it in the name of Jack, the one that gave them the possibility to be happy again, to have a new family. Tracer also goes to Lucio saying “heeey, luciooo, my boooi! Can you come and check a thing I- eheh- found someone who needs healing???” and describes where she left Widow, telling him that it will be a secret between them. Lucio is like “Oh alright see you there!"
Coming back to the Clan, Tracer hunt and Hanzo and Jesse trade a lot of goods in exchange for the help of Junkrat. Is difficult to work with him because sometimes he suddenly forgets who the fuck they are and start to scream for Roadhog help, or forget what he was doing while he was doing it and they need to start over. Junkrat is the trap genius, being an out-thinker that survived mostly after what he could catch with his traps after the loss of his limb. They set up traps all around the camp and repeat to Tracer a thousand time where they are just to be extra sure. In the meantime, the lady is bringing food to Widowmaker, checking on her as much as she can without raising too many suspicions in her Clan. (She doesn’t tell anybody what she’s doing because everybody is already tense enough) Widow doesn’t understand why she’s doing all of this for her. Lucio arrives and Tracer guides him to Widow. When he sees her he's like “fuck no I’m outta here I don’t wanna die”, but Tracer convinces him and Lucio is too good at heart so he ends up helping widow and tracer anyway. Tracer has a hell of a crush on Widow but she’s terrible at flirting and also the two clans are at war so the situation is complicated. Widow is surely intrigued by her but doesn't unbalance to let her understand anything.
Time pass, Hanzo and Jesse has become even closer in these tense circumstances and can be considered mates at this point. They put traps and made reinforcements to the camp and are ready to face any attack, but the Talon doesn't strike. Thing is, they've lost their boss. During the night of the attack, they were 100% sure that Widow would catch Tracer and when they didn't see her come back they go out to find her, but the rain cover all the tracks and smells. Sombra goes out in search of info about her and encounters Lucio while he's gathering some herbs. She starts to follow Lucio in hope that she’ll get some info from him, try to trick him into telling her the info she wants without asking… but Lucio is such a good boy that Sombra actually start to feel bad for trying to take advantage of his kindness. She doesn't discover where Widow is, but she understands that Jack has been moved to the Waterhole Flock. Jesse goes on patrol near the Talon's Clan bored to discover what they're planning and he hides when he heard some noise. He's really good at hiding as Gabriel teach him how to do it in the "feline" way... but what he sees leave him speechless. Gabriel is there, plotting with Sombra, the talon girl that attacked him during the night of the attack. He freezes. Gabe doesn’t see him, but Jesse notices him and immediately recognize him. This is actually a really important point in the story because Jesse is still so hurt inside that he wants to have nothing to do with him anymore, and definitely he doesn’t wanna be against him. He goes back to Hanzo and tells him that they need to leave. Just like that. He asks Hanzo to go with him but Hanzo can’t really abandon his own Clan and responsibilities to flee like Jesse want to do. Jesse tells him that Gabe is dangerous and they should not be against him, but mostly it’s because he doesn’t wanna fight with him (He realize only know that the shadow in Gabriel’s past was actually Morrison and that shit is about to go down). Keep in mind that Jesse has never talked about his past with Gabe to anybody so to the others Reyes seems just like a pretty powerful enemy that Jesse doesn’t wanna face. Hanzo is used to put the Clan before the relationships and call Jesse a coward for leaving. The two split up in the harshest way possible. McCree is mostly angry at himself when he leaves, and Hanzo is too focused on the battles to come to be really affected by their separation.
While Jesse is leaving, Tracer is going to visit Widow. This time she finds her back on her feet, and unexpectedly she thanks her for her help and kisses her. She invites her to walk with her and even if Tracer is unsure Widow insist. No matter the number of traps that Jesse and Hanzo set, Widow and Tracer walk straight to the Talon territory. When Tracer tells that she should really go back she realizes that Sombra and Gabe are behind her. Widow smile and offer her a hand, telling her that when all of this will be over and her friends will be dead, she will be allowed to join her in the Talon Clan. Sombra shares the location of Jack with Widow and Gabe and they come up with a plan. It's Gabriel in person to goes to Morrison's camp, knowing full well that Jack isn't there. He faces what he thinks is Jack's new lover and gladly tells him that they have Tracer, so if they want to fight they'll have to do it far away from all the nice traps that they set. Hanzo doesn't even blink and replies that he's not scared to do so, but when Gabriel leave he get a massive panic attack. He's alone now and he managed to lose everything that he had, he's a failure all over again.
Hanzo doesn’t know what to do but he manages to calm himself down enough to decide the priority was just to take back Tracer alive.
He’s alone and he never had to ask for help to anybody in his whole life. He was taught to face the dangers alone and never surrender, that dying alone was better than crying for help… but this time it can’t work if he wants to save Tracer.
He goes back to search for Jesse, find him and ask him to come back. McCree is pretty pissed and says that he won’t.
At this point, Hanzo gets on his knees. He’s shaking, he’s almost having a panic attack again. He begs Jesse to come back
“I don’t know what to do… I don’t even know how to ask this to you! But I know that I can’t do this alone. You are the only one I can count on, I have nobody else. Please, Jesse. I need your help!”
McCree gets angry and reacts by yelling. He’s also shaking and his voice cracks while he talks.
“I can’t go back! This is not a war that I can face!” and then explain all his past with Gabe. How much he meant to him, he was practically his father, and how he suffered when he abandoned him to seek vengeance. He doesn’t wanna cross his path of bloodthirst but also know for sure that he wouldn’t be able to hurt him. “He’s…family, you know?”
Hanzo understands that McCree is not a coward and understand his reasons. McCree understands that he can’t leave Tracer to die and the clan alone, and most importantly, Hanzo need him.
And while they’re there discussing the situation and how to handle it to save Tracer they hear a voice that says:
“ Ahem… Excuse me, you said Tracer?”
Hanzo and Jesse are just speechless. There is this gorilla with glasses on his face, the things that Tracer always conjured saying that the one that Winston made could fix the eyes. They can't believe that Winston is actually a real thing as much as Winston can't believe that he actually managed to find Tracer again. Hanzo and Jesse tell him the whole situation and Winston believes them relying on the fact that these two knows so many details about him that only a chatty Tracer could have told them. The trio goes to save Tracer and you know how scary is Winston when he's angry. They attack the Talon Clan facing Sombra that flee almost immediately. When they free Tracer she's shocked to see Winston but immediately reveal that her kidnapping was just a diversion: The Talons are heading to the Waterhole Flock to kill Jack. All of them immediately rush to save him.
Talons arrive at the Waterhole first, of course. Genji steps up to protect the place but can’t face both Widowmaker and Gabe at the same time. He engages a fight with Widow while Gabe slips past him and go directly to Jack to finish him. He finds him, injured, but instead of feeling satisfied as he thought he would Gabe just feel guilty… Jack barely stand up in lion form and finally fucking say “I’ve waited so many years hoping that you’ll come back, waking up in bed and thinking you were beside me, trying to tell myself that you were alive somehow… that I didn’t kill you for real ‘cause of that horrible mistake that still haunts my dreams… and now you are back and you are real but we are at the start all over again, and this wounds my heart more than anything could do…” Gabe flicker and doesn’t reply. He never thought that Jack mourned for him and waited for his return… he was convinced that he was happy about his departure. At that point, Widow arrives and see that Gabe still hasn’t killed Jack. They made the whole plan just so that he could have his vengeance so she tells him to act fast, but see that he’s very conflicted. So, she makes the job. She attacks Jack going for a deadly move but Gabe step between the two and take the hit. Widow’s attack left him with a scratch scar in his face, the same kind of scar that he did to Jack when they fought before their split. Gabe, face bleeding and angry eyes, step up in front of Jack and say that if she lies a claw on Jack he’ll have to kill her. Widow snarl and say "I could care less about killing you, it was you who wanted him dead!" remind him that they had a deal: Gabe helped her to take vengeance on the Los Muertos and Talon, and she would have helped him to have vengeance on Jack. Gabe says that he considers the deal done, and that's he's leaving. Changing the cards on the table, Widow could care less about killing Jack for Gabe's gay revenge. She calls him a coward but leaves.
Tracer is the first to arrive at the Waterhole Flock and when she sees Gabe she immediately punches on his, just to be scolded by Angela for attacking a patient. When the rest of the Clan arrive, worried sick, the battle is already over. Genji is all bandaged but smiling, Gabe and Jack have made peace.
Jesse is extremely uncomfortable around Gabe and he doesn't seem to recognize him. To be honest, Gabe is so focused on Jack that he barely notice the rest. Angela suggest to all of them to stay at the Waterhole Flock and rest for a while, seeing that they're all pretty shocked and in bad shape.
In the following days, Hanzo suggests to Jesse to talk with Gabe but he really can't find the strength to do so. He tries to avoid him as much as he can. Winston is so happy to have found Tracer again and so tired because he practically traveled everywhere to find her. Tracer invites him to join the Clan and in the meantime, Winston shares his knowledge of out-thinkers with the Waterhole Flock, teaching them all the secret of glasses.
A week later Jack gathers all them up. He's feeling better but still has bad wounds, but Gabriel is taking care of him and says that he's sorry every day.
Jack told them that he will not go back to the camp with them, but he'll stay at the Waterhole Flock with Gabe even after their recovery. When Hanzo ask who will guide the Clan, Jack tells him that he had never trusted anyone else like he trusted him, and leave him the leadership. Hanzo, honored, accept it and it's strange but incredible for him, that fought all his life to achieve the goal of being respected and being a leader. Tracer renames it playfully the Clan as "Hanzo's Clan plus Winston, can he join please?", of course, Hanzo say yes, but ignore her suggestion to try and socialize with the neighbors. At least for now, they had enough of the Talon Clan.
Jesse is packing his things when he hears a pat on his shoulder. When he turns he sees Gabe and he has to gather all his strength not to flee.
"We'll be back to see you" he said. Jesse nod and tries to keep it cool.
"I've heard a lot about you" he lies, pretending he didn't recognize him as well "from- Jack, and the others." and unexpectedly Gabe just hug him strongly and say:
"I know you always been all about personal space but look at how much you've grown, Jesse. I could barely recognize you"
Jesse can't say anything, he doesn't know the words. He did recognize him, he did remember. He hasn't forgotten him, after all, this time.
He feels warm, but he doesn't know how to process this. When Gabe leaves him and pats his shoulder again, Jesse not again and then grab his bag, ready to join Hanzo and the other to get back at what was once Morrison's Clan land.
"We'll wait for you two then" replies "We got many stories to tell you"
